For which tasks (responsibilities)?
About the role:
As Senior Game Designer, you’ll be responsible for not only the successful design and execution of a medium-scale mobile hybrid casual and casual game project but also for establishing game design best practices in conjunction with the leadership team. We’re looking for someone with proven success in mobile Action, RPG, and/or Idle games and mechanics.
Responsibilities:
Support the leadership team by creating game design best practices and processes within the team and studio
Hands-on game designer - Create detailed and easy-to-follow game design documentation for core gameplay and meta/progression systems as well as tuning and balancing
Lead and participate in brainstorming sessions, refining and executing ideas within a schedule
Work with production to propose game design that achieves business objectives
Work with production to prioritize and scope designs developed in a cadence that delivers the highest impact to the player, first
Share the responsibility of the game's overall design vision and ensure the core and leadership teams are aligned on the vision
Consistently and report game design progress to the team
Develop and execute a play-testing plan for the game. Consolidate play-testing feedback and adjust game design planning, accordingly
Assist in mentoring junior game designers
Work with level designers to create interesting scenarios, events, and progression design
Work with product managers to identify KPIs to track for monitoring game performance and integrate KPI performance into the decision-making process.
What kind of professional are we looking for?
Excellent English-speaking written and verbal communication skills
Candidate must be willing to take a short design task/test
Been through at least one full production cycle on a commercially successful mobile game in any product role
Strong and clear communicator of game design and systems
Created and balanced complex game economy and progression design systems such as game currency reward progression, XP curve progression, combat system difficulty progression, and more
Understanding of how to balance economy, core gameplay, and meta systems and the tuning required for progression journey through casual player experience
Rapidly prototyped core gameplay mechanics and systems - able to test, identify new opportunities, and make tangible progress based on improved game KPI's and play-test feedback
Demonstrable understanding of how the meta in popular casual games evolves as a consequence of the introduction of new mechanics and synergies
Design experience working on RPG or similar adventure/action titles with combat systems, level/skill progression, and XP/currency economies with long-term balancing/tuning planning required.
